This book reading is for In Faithfulness, He Afflicted Me by Lynnette Kraft.

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

For we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. 2 Corinthians 1:8-10

What do you think of these verses and how they relate to that line?

I think that if you trust in God you can over come anything. You must lean on him though.

Have you had any moments in your life where you felt really close to God?

Just yesterday I felt God was working his miracles. We needed a hundred dollars for Harley's shadow box. God led Lauren to donate that last amount. Then Harley passed at 9pm last night.

  1. Woooo! Go Lauren! That's just amazing! I am so, so glad that all the money was collected for the shadowbox but feel bad that I never got to donate for it. That's ok, God can use my money for something else to benefit someone in need!

  2. I agree with you but I also think a lot of us are afraid to lean on God because other people think we can handle it ourselves (or read a book about it or take medicine or whatever). I even got caught in this just last week when my son got hurt at football. The coach was telling me what to do, my son was telling me what to do, and my husband was telling me what to do (all three different things!) and it was so confusing for me, and not once did I wonder what God wanted me to do, and let me tell you, that night was pure chaos emotionally. Anyway, that's wonderful you were blessed with the money for the shadow box for Harley! ~Debbie
